This unique sideboard is unlike any we have ever seen! The pedestal leg design, burled wood and ebonized trim have a striking impact. Though well hidden, this piece features two drawers directly above the pedestal style legs and two additional drawers in the center of the piece. The drawers function remarkably well for the age, further emphasizing the quality and craftsmanship. It is marked with the Cowan Furniture logo
This piece was made by WK Cowan Furniture Co. which was founded i 1894 in Chicago, and by 1905 it was one of the largest furniture factories in Chicago. Cowan furniture was heavily influenced by English furniture design. Most of the hand-made furniture was crafted from Mahogany and Circassian (European burled) Walnut. Sadly, the company fell on hard times and their business shut down around 1920.

Condition
Please note, this piece is in very good antique condition. Notably, there is a surface crack in the finish of one leg which is not visible unless you squat down and look underneath. It does not impact the integrity of the piece. It is shown in photos. There are minor surface imperfections as well which are to be expected from a piece this age. All notable imperfections are shown in photos.
